I have been fortunate enough to work with so many amazing students and professionals in Higher Education for the past 12 years. Having worked for three major public Universities (UConn, FSU, UNF and VT) and one small private University (Jacksonville University) in the areas of student union operations, student activities, recreation and leadership has taught me so much about myself and what others are cabable of.
As the current Director of Student Centers and Activities at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA I am a partner in building community everyday. I have a passion for exploring leadership and exploring how and why people surpass their own expectations of their potential. That’s where this blog comes into play. Like most people, I also have random thoughts rolling around Up in the Attic which I share in my new series of Cobwebs in the Attic.
I was born and raised in Catskill, New York (yes, there is more than just NYC). I grew up with my family running the Double R World Championship Rodeo Company. I later turned my direction towards Higher Education where I have assisted students in planning hundreds of concerts, developed leadership programs and opened two student unions. I have a wonderful family, love sports (sadly attempt to play golf whenever I can, am in/serve as commissioner of way too many fantasy leagues, and proudly admit that my two favorite movies are Casablanca and Mary Poppins.
I encourage you to comment on these posts, share your own thoughts and challenges to mine. You can e-mail me below, follow me on Twitter or find me on LinkedIn and Google+. I am by no means an expert, I am just trying to make my own little dent in the world.
